My Recap: Dancing With The Stars.

I admit it. I like Dancing With The Stars. As a child I was told that dancing was sinful–it leads STRAIGHT to fornication!!!–so of course. I LOVE DANCING!

Yes, the costumes are skimpy. Yes, some of the dancing is provocative. But, hot dog! How can you not love Warren Sapp bustin' a move and winking away at the judges?

But three nights of DWTS was too much. I skipped the middle night and watched the highlights on the third. Some thoughts:

1. Kim Kardashian can't dance. Also, she can't speak intelligently. This doesn't matter. She's pretty and a "reality TV star." Is this the season DWTS becomes a popularity contest? Rats.

2. How long can the cantankerous, old lady shtick work for Cloris Leachman? My bet is one more week.

3. Is Warren Sapp the new Emmit Smith? Let's put it this way, I like him whole lots better than ex-N'Sync-er Lance Bass. Oh, baby, bye-bye-bye.

4. Brooke Burke. Why oh why can't I look like that after 4 pregnancies? Weight Watchers, here I come.

5. Cheryl Burke: yeah, she gained some poundage. I like her better that way. Food is good, curves are our friend. Weight Watchers, nevermind.

6. Misty May: hoo-boy. Sun damage is an ugly beast. I felt like slathering SPF on my own face that night, in the dark, indoors. At least she was wearing more clothing than her Olympic beach volleyball outfit. Sheesh.

Disclaimer: Yes, I tried to get rid of my TV. But I am a weak, human being. I can only read so much Jonathan Edwards before my brain sponataneously combusts. Even hard-core English majors need brain candy.

    Girl,
I know of what you speak! I love the Office, which has its one hour season opener tonight. Yeah. I also love any rerun of the Gilmore Girls, which is definitely my guilty and girlie pleasure. Hey, I been surrounded by 5 males for years. They make fun of me when they catch me watching, but I’m strong and every once in awhile, I catch them sneaking a peek and laughing also. I also really love Mad Men – reminds me of my 60′s childhood, but mine wasn’t quite so racy ;-) . So! Now you know! Oh, wait, then there’s Project Runway. I do read books, really.

You are speaking my langauge! I love TV. DWTS, Grey’s,Survivor,The Office. I though I must disagree slightly w/ the Lance Bass dislike. I voted for him all 13 times. I really like Lacey. She’s spunky. I also like Warren though.

At the moment I’m getting ready to watch the season premiere of the Office.. but I also like DWTS, and in the spring, LOST will be my show.

    Also a DWTS fan:)

Looking forward to tonight’s office premier and I’ve been enjoying Biggest Loser…that’s my favorite reality program. Also a big LOST fan, but I’ll have to wait till January for that one!

Oh, boo! BOO! For shame. There isn’t much out there worse than that piece of debauchery.

Step away from the t.v., EE…step away and no one gets hurt.

Or at least watch something worthwhile. Maybe Alton Brown on Good Eats. ;) That’s kitchen science and the whole family loves it.

I miss my TV, I miss my Project Runway.

Is that still on? We haven’t been plugged in since last May.

Oh, Grafted Branch, take a chill pill. ;-) There are far more “debauched” shows than DWTS. But yes, our whole family enjoys “Good Eats.” And no, my kids don’t watch DWTS with me. I TiVo it and watch it when they’re asleep. Rest assured, none of the children are being corrupted! :-D

Gwen: I feel your pain. I grew up w/o TV. I tried to wean myself off in July. Too late. And yes, I do think Project Runway is still running. I don’t watch it much–usually re-runs. MELANIE!!! ARE YOU READING THIS? ANSWER GWEN!!

Pat: ooooo, Mad Men. Yes oh yes. I TiVo that show just for the costumes and set designs. In my next lifetime I wanna be a costume designer.

TV? What’s that? Seriously, I grew up with waaaay too much TV and now I’m not so TV-friendly! If I’m at a hotel or someone else’s house I like to watch the Home & Garden channel. I have seen “The Office” and I think it is very, very funny. I get two movies a week from Netflix and I watch those on Saturdays when the boys go hunting!

You have to skip the results night and just read about it the next morning. I have no patience for the results show. NONE. How Kim K. made it through again is beyond me. She makes me sad. It’s like there’s nobody in there. I want to ply her with chocolate chip cookies and make her THINK SOMETHING.

I want to dislike BrookeB, but her dancing with her kid… it’s wearing me down. I might start to like her. Gotta support the mommies, you know!

My kids have gotten me into this show, America’s Got Talent. They discovered these Juliard trained, violinist brothers who were raised in the inner city on YouTube and decided to start watching, see how far they’d get. It’s an interesting show because they allow any and all types of acts. It’s much more interesting than that silly American Idol, which I hate.

Ever since the writer’s strike I haven’t been able to revisit regular TV viewing. I guess I was really hurt! haha. My husband has baseball on just about every night. Oh Bother.

I’m going to see if The Office was recorded on my DVR. I can’t believe I missed it!

Well I didn’t want to get sucked into fall t.v….but…it happened! What else is there to do while nursing a baby? I know…read a book but that’s just too difficult when trying to keep baby awake to get a full feeding before slipping off to dreamland. So…DWTS and Survivor. Oh, and ER. We watch the first three or four seasons and then got disinterested. Since it’s the last season ever I thought I’d give it a try. Last night’s show was gooood!

    Hugs,
    Carmen

This is funny Liz. I had to laugh at your description of your childhood :) We’ve been unplugged for a month and a half and I’m taking it the hardest. No one else in the family seems to mind. We like 24 so maybe we’ll replug in January or when the baby comes and I’m up all night!
