Playing along again with Jennifer F.!
1. Beauty & poetry: I found myself in a poetic mood this week. But you already knew that, right?
Whenever I consciously slow myself down physically–I'm more apt to see the small, breathtaking moments of beauty that God gives each day. The poems just flowed out of that. It's funny because I received several emails and questions from readers asking: What were the poems about? Who were they about? Ah, my sweets, I'll never tell. If it meant something to you, then that's what it meant. Why should I ruin what it meant for you by explaining what it meant for me? Don't worry, though. The poetic mood will pass and I'll be back to normal blogging soon.
2. I've stopped watching the news: What's the point? It's bad. Worse than expected. Grim. Embattled. Controversial. Billions of taxpayer money. ACK! I just turned it off. Ahhhhhh. Which is probably why I wrote poetry. Sometimes I just have to let it go. I told myself: Elizabeth, you cannot change ONE THING about the economy. LOL! Yep. I feel much better now. Anyway, God has always taken care of me; why would He stop caring for me just because the economy is bad?
3. Smelling the rain: The weather changed this week. It had been warm and summery for a couple of weeks. On Thursday, a cool wind blew in with storm clouds and by the afternoon it was raining. Jude loves the rain as much as I do. He pressed his nose against the screen and told me he was "smelling the rain." I laughed and did the same. It made me happy.
4. New babies: Is there anything more delightful than new life? One of my dear friends gave birth this week to a healthy 9 lb. boy! Congratulations, J.! I love you and miss you!
5. Peek-a-boo & "Dirty Jammies" : Jasie (on the left) loves playing peek-a-boo. She especially loves it if I hide under a blanket or behind the couch and then pop out at her. It's so cute to hear her chortle with glee. The twins have taken a distinct liking to mucking around in the backyard. I put on their "Dirty Jammies" which are footie-jammies I only use outdoors. Then I let them run wild. They get filthy dirty and before we come back inside, I zip it off and throw it in the laundry. The only thing I have to clean up is their hands and face–much easier than hosing down their entire bodies. The "Dirty Jammies" are their official outdoor play clothes.
6. TV shows: For some reason, I'm just not into Lost. Maybe my brain is sick of following never-ending, twisting plot lines. It's exhausting. Also, I thought the post-Super Bowl Office was completely lack-luster. The Jack Black cameo was tasteless, the Dwight Shrute fire-escape mishap was overdone. I'm totally not into 24 either. And is it just me or is 24 like gratuitously gruesome this season? Yuck. Y'know, since I'm not watching the news and not liking any shows, maybe I'll go on a TV fast again this Lent season. Hmmm. Maybe I'm missing the point. Shouldn't I be giving up something I like and not sacrificing something I don't like anyway? Oh, well. Still a few weeks until Lent.
7. I'm getting published!: A few weeks ago I sold an article to a local magazine–pretty well-known here in The OC. Another article I wrote is going to run in a big, local paper in a few weeks. I'll let you know specific deets when we get closer to the pub date. This is really exciting for me. It's nice to have my writing validated in "the real world," y'know? Not that I'd ever forsake my dear, wittle blog or forget where I came from. 'Cuz y'all are my peeps, yo.
