Dodgers Rout Rockies 14-2. 8 Straight Wins!

Awesome win at Dodger Stadium, today. We got there just in time for the first pitch.

It was a hot, breeze-less Sunday afternoon. I was thankful that our seats, in the Loge section, were in the shade. A lot of people moved up, out of the sun, and into the empty, shaded seats.

It's been a long time since I've been to a game at Dodger Stadium. It brought back so many great memories. The live organ music, the iconic voice of Vin Scully, the friendly fans and, of course, DODGER DOGS!

We picked a good day to go back to Dodger Stadium. 8 is my lucky number and the Dodgers won their 8th straight win today. I think it's a sign. I haven't followed the Dodgers for years–it's high time I get back to the serious business of being a true fan.

Today (as usual) the outfield seats were rowdy. But y'need the rowdy kids to get the wave started. I think the most successful wave was in the 3rd inning and went around the ballpark almost 4x.

There were some enthusiastic frat guys in front of us. The game is always more fun when you've got goofy college kids heckling the opposing team and high-fiving everyone around them.

Rafael Furcal got the action started with a double in the first. Manny didn't hit a homer today, but he put forth his best effort every time he was at bat. I appreciate that and think it sets a great example for the team.

The real star of the game was Matt Kemp who hit a grand slam in the fifth which doubled the Dodgers lead to 8-0. I was also impressed by relief pitcher Scott Elbert who got his first hit, his first RBI and his first Major League win.

Really cool.

My kiddos had a blast, too. The boys are playing Little League this year so they are starting to really "get" the game. My Dad helped them out by showing them how to read the score board. There were lots of families at the ballpark today. I saw at least 2 preggo mommies, lots of toddlers in cute Dodger outfits and even tiny, tiny babies. So cute.

And, of course, my kids loved the Dodger dogs, peanuts and ice-cream!

I was excited to catch a glimpse of my hero, Vin Scully, chillin' during one of the innings. What a great broadcaster and great American he is! I would love to meet him someday.

We left at the bottom of the sixth. The score was 11-0 and although we love the LA Dodgers, we hate LA traffic. We walked to the car and listened to the rest of the game on the way home.

All in all, an absolutely perfect Sunday afternoon. I can't wait to go back!

I love American sport; the atmosphere there is as much reason to go as the game.

Even without Manny Ramirez, the Dodgers have held the top spot in the power rankings for practically the entire season. They have to keep going coz; they’ve always been my favourite teams in MLB. Just read about them here:
