Manny Ramirez, Cheaters, and real Dodger fans.

I guess Manny Ramirez could use one of those "I won't cheat!" patches I wrote about in The OC Register.

Still, I'm hoping for the best. But it does look suspicious–esp. since it was Hcg. It's disappointing but not surprising. This kind of stuff is going on all over MLB.

Maybe our first mistake was placing Manny on a pedestal. Manny Fever hit LA so hard that some left-field seats were recently re-christened "Mannywood." Honestly, that bothered me.

Because baseball is a team sport. What makes baseball great is not the superhuman achievements of one single player. Perhaps we, as fans (and owners, too?), are partially to blame for demanding bigger, splashier achievements and personalities?

If our team loses or a player disappoints us do we quit attending games?

Regardless, real Dodger fans will remain loyal. We understand that everyone makes mistakes.

Manny, we will welcome you back. But please be 100% open and honest. You have nothing to lose.

Except my sons' respect.

Being a Dodger fan first definitely helps. I’m not sure whether to believe him about why he took what. It would have been so much better if he’d have actually stated before the drug test that he had taken hcg and produced the doctor’s prescription.

Waiting to be caught doesn’t make me hopeful that it was innocent.
