I love it that you take pics of the messes! I do that all the time, like when my son ripped a whole roll of paper towel off sheet by sheet and my hubby was mad that I took pics and didn’t clean it up! I did eventually, but it was much more fun to watch his face when he heard the rrrrrrrip of the perforations and felt the textures…thanks for sharing these!

My son, now 23 and expecting his own first child in 2 weeks, did this to me nearly everyday during his nap time. I could have put the books somewhere else, but I was happy that he wanted to touch them, be in them. We spent a lot of time together cleaning the books up too, and even that was time well spent. The picture of your twins on the shelf brought the memory right back. I’m glad you didn’t take the mess too seriously. There will be plenty of days when the kids are too busy to be home messing up the house. The humor of childhood adventure and discovery is all too often missed by worrying about neatness. Glad you are home enjoying your children. PS – I love your blog and read it as often as I get the chance. My younger brother and sister were twins and I grew up thinking they were a novelty, like a sideshow that lived in my house. They too had their own language; it was fun for us to watch them communicate. Keep up the fun/good work with your blog and writing!

Finally, someone on a blog who uses the word “literally” correctly–not like, “We literally froze to death.” But, you’re still here, so how could that be?

Perhaps, though, the title should be “Book(up)ends.”

    Just sayin’…

Thanks for all the kind comments, friends! I love watching my twins do stuff like this. It just cracks me up.

Cathy, yep, one of my pet peeves is the improper use of the word “literally.” I read a story about a lady who owned a pet store and she got a shipment of gerbils. She said: “We literally had gerbils coming out of our ears.” That must have been some sight, boy. LOL!

And I never take messes seriously at my house. What’s the point? It’s just gonna get messy again! :) I’d rather spend that time playing!!!

I so miss when my twins were this size. Now they are SIX. It went too fast. Ah, to be blessed with twins again…

Hardly a mess goes by at our house where I don’t take a picture first before cleaning.

Now, I couldn’t have said that with the first child. I was too uptight to capture those moments on film. (years of therapy may erase the first borns emotional scars :-)

    Thanks, for sharing!

Love these pictures. My little gal is 16 months old – and adores removing books, DVDs… really ANYTHING that is on a shelf.
But I do adore how much she loves to carry a book around with her. Hope it sticks.
    Thanks for sharing!
