Welcome to

THE SATURDAY EVENING BLOG POST!

This
is where bloggers gather on the first Saturday of each month to share
their latest and greatest blog posts! This month we're featuring posts
from SEPTEMBER '09!

I'll begin by sharing my post: Don't Trust Your Desperately Wicked Heart. I chose this post because it explains how the fear-based mindset of my fundamentalist past still affects me today. Understanding where I've been helps me figure out where I need to go in order to have a whole, healthy, loving relationship with God.

Now it's YOUR turn! Choose one post from your past month of blogging: a recipe, an inspiring story, a photo, a sad story, a piece of art. THE SATURDAY EVENING BLOG POST is a celebration of art, so please no links to products or giveaways. Thanks!

I'll leave this post up all weekend long so you'll have a chance to come back and read some of the other submissions, too.

Here's how to participate:

  1. pick one of YOUR posts from the past month and insert a link to it
in The Mister Linky form here on my blog (remember to provide a direct
link to your specific post, not just your home page).
  2. compose a new post at your site encouraging your readers to come
check out the other great submissions and maybe explaining why you
chose to highlight a particular post.

I'm really looking forward to reading your posts and getting to know each of you a little more! ENJOY!

Thanks again for the opportunity to share. I enjoyed issue 1 and am looking forward to reading some of issue 2. I chose my post based on the theme of all month. It is about talking to people from different backgrounds – an important skill to learn if you want to further any type of cause

This sounds like a great idea. I am linking to a post I recently wrote about how I felt when the date for our daughter’s heart surgery was set. How real it became when I got that phone call. Thanks for the chance to share.

  • http://www.sewjenna.blogspot.com jennapants

It’s my first time here, via Heather from the EO. Being relatively new to the blogosphere, I love this type of thing. I discover so many great blogs this way.

The post I chose was not my best written of the month, but it is one of the most important to me. Thanks for the chance to share it. I look forward to reading through all of the others.

I enjoyed the post you chose this month, Elizabeth. I too am from a fundamentalist background. Just yesterday I was remembering the time I was driving down the highway and came upon two teenage guys on a small motorcycle (much too small for the two of them). It was dangerous and they weren’t wearing headgear. I immediately prayed for their safety… but just as immediately thought, “They might be doing something rebellious, in which case I shouldn’t pray for them or I’ll get in the way of God’s discipline for them.” It’s been hard, but wonderful, growing out of that poisoned mindset.

Anyway, I linked to a short post that sums up why I like my life.

I chose “Crepusculous Moments” because it is completely mine and not borrowed from someone else via a link. Also, I love unusual words and am happy when I can incorporate one into my speaking or writing. Also, I like to write about Catholic spirituality.

Because I have two blogs I like to enter one from each, and I hope that’s okay. I chose the one about Sister Mary Ruth because—well—it’s the only September post I did on that blog. This month I think I’ll do more.

After a little debate with myself between my anniversary post and this one, I decided to share “Remembering Fall Blessings – Even Hard Ones.”

September was a difficult month for me — I’m still not exactly sure why. But this blog marks the turning point for me, where I gave myself permission to remember all the Octobers, not just last October; to have fun as well as be sad; to make new memories and not be only defined by last year’s memories.
