THE SATURDAY EVENING BLOG POST, vol. 1, issue 4

First-saturdays3

Welcome to
THE SATURDAY EVENING BLOG POST!

This
is where bloggers gather on the first Saturday of each month to share
their latest and greatest blog posts! This month we're featuring posts
from
November 2009!

I'll  begin by sharing one of my posts from last month: DIE, SKINNY JEANS, DIE! I chose this post because it's hilarious to me that of ALL the posts I write, my rants on fashion and pop culture get the highest traffic. Is this a sign from God? Does He want me to lay off the deep, spiritual topics? Or maybe it's just His way of saying I should have more fun. And not take myself so seriously? Yeah, I think that's it. So, here's to FUN! More FUN! More FUN!

Now it's YOUR TURN!

Here's how to participate:

  1. pick one of YOUR posts from the past month and insert a link to it
in The Mister Linky form here on my blog (remember to provide a direct
link to your specific post, not your home page).
  2. compose a new post at your site with a link back here so your readers can participate, too. The more the merrier–it's always fun to discover new blogs!

THE SATURDAY EVENING BLOG POST is a celebration of family-friendly art, so please no links to products or giveaways. I'm looking forward to reading your submissions! Enjoy!

I absolutely love this idea – I’ll have to post my Saturday Evening Blog Post tomorrow – I’m not quite sure I would be able to form one.more.sentence that made sense.

Glad to chime in on another one of these. I don’t comment here a lot , but I subscribe to you in my reader, so I read all your posts. Keep up the good work.

This is my first time. I kept forgetting! Thanks for hosting!

Now if only I had your humor to pull off a “Die, Skinny Jeans, Die!” post… but I don’t, so my disdain of them comes off much less jovial, so I don’t even approach pop culture. ;-)

I really should proof read my comments to avoid redundant adverbs! So… ;-)

I decided to link to a serious post about learning what really makes a good mom, instead of to a funny one (http://www.joyinthisjourney.com/2009/11/in-which-my-forgetfulness-leads-to.html in case you want to read it). Writing about relaxing and not trying to do it all seemed to strike more of a chord with people than the funny one (guess my humor writing needs some work!).

I linked to an excited post where I discover the world of synesthesia — in other words, why my numbers all have distinct personalities, and why colors, letters, days of the week, and months of the year are all male or female to me.

To be honest, I’m not sure if my quirk qualifies as true synesthesia, or if it was just a survival mechanism of a child who didn’t much like sitting and listening in school. But it was a fun post.

    Thank you once again, Elizabeth!

I loved your skinny jeans post, by the way.

The one I chose is one of those that simply wrote itself. It happened to resonate with people and it’s one that I treasure. I should get myself out of the way more often :)

    Have a good weekend, lady!

I chose a post that was exciting to write about. I wondered when starting my blog if I’d have enough to write about but living in Africa means it practically writes itself.

Thanks for the opportunity to share and meet.

Hi Elizabeth. I’m so glad I’ve been following you on Twitter because it’s brought me back here more often (I really enjoy your writing), and you’re a great tweeter – good mix of funny and thoughtful. :)

Anyway, the post I chose was one that just poured out of me one night, and it’s my favorite from this month.

Thanks again for hosting Elizabeth. Here is another post on the Eucharist!

Since I’ve only ever posted theological musings here, I thought I’d share a more anecdotal post this time. The Irish are always delightful to me!

    Thanks for hosting!

Thanks Elizabeth! I’m sharing my recent post on Fear. It seemed to generate a lot of resonance in the hearts of others. God bless!

  • http://www.mylifeafterlevi.blogspot.com Rebekah

Thanks for hosting this. I’ve never joined in before and wasn’t sure if I should post one that’s more light hearted or serious- I went with serious this time- maybe light hearted next.

This one’s my first submission although I directed traffic your way a couple months ago or so…

I went with humor, too! :-)

Thank you for hosting this event. I enjoyed participating. I linked to a somewhat serious post…the third of a series of posts I did regarding our discernment of Natural FAmily Planning.

I enjoyed your Die, Skinny Jeans, Die, post.

Found you through Heather of the EO. Glad I popped in!

My post honors a friend and fellow Lay Carmelite who died. Her funeral was held on All Souls Day, and it was beautiful. She is now, I believe, with her husband and children who preceded her in entering eternal life.

My post is a memory of my two grandmothers and how both were involved in the story of my childhood mishap, a broken arm.

Thank you for hosting this each month. I have enjoyed reading what others write. It encourages me to keep trying to blog.

I’ll admit, it was a funny post! ;) but I LOVE my skinny jeans! Just throw a short dress or long shirt over it with boots and no one knows how many butt issues I have!
