Welcome to a special edition of THE SATURDAY EVENING BLOG POST! This is where bloggers gather to share their best post from the previous month.

In this special edition, we'll be featuring The Best Posts of 2009! This means you can share ANY POST from January '09-December '09.

I'll go first. I've decided to share "Redemption (or winning the battle against a traumatic past)." This post shares a very personal story about how growing up in an oppressive religious system still affects me today. 2009 marks the year I began writing publicly about my radical fundamentalist past. It was a huge exercise in courage. I finally felt safe and strong enough to write honestly about my experiences. A huge thanks to all of you who responded with kindness and acceptance.

Now, it's your turn! Here's how to participate:

  1. pick one of YOUR posts from the past year and insert a link to it in The Mister Linky form here on my blog (remember to provide a direct link to your specific post, not your home page).
  2. compose a new post at your site with a link back here so your readers can participate, too. The more the merrier–it's always fun to discover new blogs!

THE SATURDAY EVENING BLOG POST is a celebration of family-friendly art, so please no links to products or giveaways. Thanks! I'm looking forward to reading your submissions! Enjoy!

UPDATE! THE MR. LINKY SITE WAS DOWN TEMPORARILY. IF YOU POSTED YOUR LINK IN THE COMMENT BOX, FEEL FREE TO RE-LINK IN MR. LINKY. SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION!

Wait, wait!!! I thought this was happening tomorrow. Thank goodness that I knew which blog post that I wanted to share.

That post was very moving for me. I am grateful that you are willing to share your story.

You are early this month! My reasons for posting this as my favorite of 2009 doesn’t post on my blog until midnight! Thanks for hosting again.

Thank you for hosting :) It’s always so much fun to read through all of the links!

Pent-up words have rushed through and out of me this past month. That’s the length of my blogging, unleashed writing from years of dormant. My short list made it easy. Thanks for sharing. Now I’m going to all the places here to read.

Thanks for hosting Elizabeth! I love your new profile picture!

I just read your post of the year. Wow. It was so moving. Thank you so much for sharing that glimpse into your battle (and victory!) to achieve “vigorous normalcy”.

I had a few that I wanted to share, but the one I chose was the closest to my heart.

Happy New Year! May 2010 be blessed!

I like your new profile photo.
    Also, excellent post selection.

  • http://bucketofparts.blogspot.com Emily

I’ve been wanting to do this for months, but always forget! I’m starting the year off on the right foot by doing it this month!

I’m lousy at ‘best of’ things, so I just added a post that was sort of tangentially connected to the one I added last month. The post I wrote over that period that I think is ‘best’ would probably be different any given hour. ;)

Thanks for continuing to host this!

    Great idea, Elizabeth!

Peace and joy in 2010 and always…

    LOL…you think it’s Saturday, don’t you? ;)

  • http://snoringscholar.com Sarah Reinhard

    I don’t see Mr. Linky (I’ll check back)…

The post I am sharing is “Wash My Feet, Lord” (http://snoringscholar.com/2009/04/wash-my-feet-lord/), a reflection on my experience at Holy Thursday Mass and about how inspired and moved I am by our priest’s example.

Thanks for hosting this and for your inspiring example, Elizabeth Esther!

I can’t see the Mr Linky either :-( This month I’m sharing my thoughts on happiness.

  • http://tiddlyompompom.wordpress.com/ tiddlyompompom

I can’t find Mr Linky either. The post I’m sharing is http://tiddlyompompom.wordpress.com/2009/09/01/little-miss-chatterbox/
    Happy new year!

Thank you for leading back to review what we’ve posted this year.
I rejoice with you in your redemption!

Mr Linky is back at the moment, but just in case he has more technical difficulties, here’s the link to my top post for December and for 2009:

    http://www.joyinthisjourney.com/2010/01/saturday-evening-blog-post-best-of-2009.html

Thanks for hosting, and thanks for sharing.

I had 223 posts last year, so choosing what I thought best was difficult. For my Observant RC blog I submitted: Crepusculous Moments as my favorite for the year. A close contender: Weeds and Wheat Together.

BTW I’m considering changing the name of my blog because I think Observant Roman Catholic can be interpreted as pretentious or presumptuous. I don’t mean it that way. I had heard the term “observant Jew” and adapted it.

Happy New Year! I enjoy this monthly activity and thank you for doing this.

I am so excited to read everyone’s best ofs! What a brilliant idea, Elizabeth!! Happy New Year ~ may you and your family be blessed.

  • http://www.ikeepmymemorieshere.blogspot.com/ Ruth Ann

I just chose one of my December posts from I Keep My Memories Here. It is the first in a series of three about the time surrounding my sister’s birth.

Thanks for sharing your Redemption post. It’s an amazing story, and I’m glad you have healed or are in the process of healing such traumatic memories.

May God shower you with many blessings, especially inner peace.

It is great fun to read through the links. Thanks for hosting! Have a blessed New Year.

    Once again, thank you, Elizabeth.

I had problems with Mr Linky on my blog today also. Someone said he was taking a coffee break! :)
Thanks for hosting this meme! Happy New Year!

  • http://lovewell.blogspot.com/ Kelly @ Love Well

I suppose it’s fitting that this is my first time participating in the carnival. Something about a new year….

I only recently found you, Elizabeth, and already, you’ve been a huge encouragement to me. Thanks for hosting.

I also thank you also for sharing your Redemption post.

While I don’t think the post(s) I linked to above, regarding prices and government meddling therein, are the best thing on my blog last year, I do think that they are the best of what I myself have written.

  • http://ifmeadowsspeak.blogspot.com/ Tammy@If Meadows Speak….

How do I link back? I’m new.

  • http://www.24andprolife.blogspot.com Jenelle

Thanks for hosting again. I chose a recent post (no time to look through all the archives) and chose one that is still on my mind and received a lot of feedback about intentionally using NFP and the discernment process that goes with that.

  • http://borrowedlight.blogspot.com Sue

My post will be up ANY SECOND NOW.

  • http://noteverstill.blogspot.com Robin (noteverstill)

There were some that were more elequontly written but this post brought together my grief, hopes and fears.
