Welcome to THE SATURDAY EVENING BLOG POST!

This is where bloggers gather on the first Saturday of each month to share their latest and greatest blog posts. This weekend we are sharing our favorite post from August 2010!

I'll begin by sharing my favorite post from last month: WHY I REGRET VOTING YES ON PROP. 8. I chose this post because I was pleasantly surprised by the civil and respectful conversation that took place in the comment box. It made me so grateful for the compassionate & insightful community of people who read here. Thank you.

: :

Now, it's your turn!

 Here's how to participate:

  1. pick one of YOUR posts from the past month. Insert a link to that specific post (not just your home page) in The Mister Linky form here on my blog.
  2. compose a new post at your site with a link back here so your readers can participate, too. The more the merrier–it's always fun to discover new blogs!

THE SATURDAY EVENING BLOG POST is a celebration of family-friendly art, so please no links to products or giveaways. I'm looking forward to reading your submissions! Enjoy!

I linked mine! I think this is a great idea!

I picked the one I did this month about “Eat, Pray, Love.” It seems I’m not the only one that can’t get on a plane and leave my life for a year to find myself. ;-)

Favorite blog of mine would have to be my letter to people who judge me by my lack of a college major choice, and treat me like the scum of the earth. =]

    Once again, thanks Elizabeth.

  • http://thecommandmentsofmen.blogspot.com Lewis

My post was written in response to a lot of questions my readers had asked me about the Quiverful movement.

    As always, thanks EE.

Thanks for hosting this. I really enjoy reading posts and finding new bloggers. Everyone is so different and interesting.

  • http://delesmuses.blogspot.com/ Jenny

I was going to post this one on reasons for marriage, but decided that this one on unwed sex and pregnancy was better. Thanks for letting me participate.

    Again about art.
I almost did the one about Prop 8, responding to yours and to other comments on yours… but decided against.

My piece this month is a little different for me. It abstractly talks about faith and salvation in an analogy of a road trip. Twas lots of fun to write! Thanks Elizabeth for hosting this.

Sharing a post about the season of harvest. Thank you as always for this monthly fun and for always being true to speak your mind.

  • http://laura-lucille.blogspot.com Laura

I linked to a short reflection I wrote while a thunderstorm raged outside my window.
    Thanks for hosting, Elizabeth!

Thanks as always for hosting. This month was all about our big interstate move, the panic, the stress, the finally feeling home. I didn’t post much in August (too many boxes to unpack), so it made it easy to pick one of the 8 posts I wrote!

  • Leanne

Thanks for hosting. I chose one which was somewhat controversial in discussing with my friends. Hope it is not too controversial.

Thank you for hosting. Love the title of this link up. :) )

  • http://thesescatteredreflections.blogspot.com/ SLorenceJohns

I linked to a post I did about one of my favorite pastimes, reading. Thanks for doing this, EE. It’s really fun to read other people’s blog posts.

So glad I finally made it back here this month. I linked to a humorous post I did about babies that are brought to our orphanage.

    Thanks for hosting this party.

  • http://faithandfood.morizot.net/ Scott Morizot

This month, I’m offering several of my short reflections in August on some of St. Maximos’ Texts on Love. Hopefully they will be interesting or helpful.

Thanks again, as always Elizabeth!! Congrats on your column and F&F!!!! HUGE hugs….<3

Eight years ago in August, my 22 year old cousin died. This is the first time I’ve written about his death, one more step in the grieving process.

  • http://silly-bear.com Sarah@From Tolstoy to Tinkerbell

I chose a piece where I reflect on the coming social upheaval or the end of the world as Christians know it. I talked about Prop 8, the mosque at Ground Zero, and the anniversary of the 19th amendment.

  • http://www.tuckedintohim.blogspot.com Karen

I chose a post that has stuck with me all month. I’m pretty sure God knew I needed to hear it repeatedly. :)

Back to school, whether it be kindergarten or college, brings out the “helicopter parent” in all of us.

My post serves provides some guidance on when to swoop in and rescue their little inexperienced butts and when to step back and let them twist in the wind.

  • http://chroniclesofachristianheretic.blogspot.com/ Sandra

Sorry I linked twice–once with just my name and once with the name of my post. I thought just having my name show up on the list was no incentive for someone to actually take the link!

I had a couple to choose from this month and I chose to share my “confessions”. The whole time I was writing it I had a big smile on my face. I hope that if anyone has any of their own “faults” to share, they will feel welcome to either comment or share them in a link, even if they are old news. I hope you enjoy.

  • http://www.adorotedevote.blogspot.com Adoro

Been awhile, but just posted. I see that only my name shows up, too, but it looks like it might update later?

If I don’t see that it updates, I’ll post again too.

    My post: http://adorotedevote.blogspot.com/2010/08/red-zinfandel.html

I am NOT used to using Mr. Linky so I probably don’t have the hang of it. ;-)

  • http://www.actsoftheapostasy.blogspot.com LarryD

Oops – should have put in the blog name instead of mine on the Mister Linky thing-a-ma-bob. So #43 is ‘Acts of the Apostasy’.

I linked to my post describing the need for a group called “Catholics For C.A.T.H.O.L.I.C.I.S.M.”, to counter the false and fake Catholyc groups out there.

And I came here via Adoro.

Thanks for doing this! I hope to participate each month!

  • http://baptisttalibanmemoirs.blogspot.com Cindy Foster

My favorite post this month was the first of a four-part series I titled “Shedding the Burqa”. It is about the last service we attended at the Baptist Taliban, and the one that assured us that the only thing we could do…was leave.

I ‘met’ many interesting ladies last time I participated in this. I know I’ll enjoy reading through all of these once again.

Thanks for hosting this! It’s a great idea.

  • http://outofthesilverchair.blogspot.com/2010/08/dont-ever-dare-dancing-bear-to-teach.html The Cult Next Door

I wrote about my discovery of a (what I believe) to be a truly horrific practice of “Domestic Discipline”…and why my reaction was so strong…
    Thanks for doing this EE!

Hello all, this sounds like a lot of fun. Thanks Esther. My favorite post in August, which is my blogs first month, was about my personal educational experiences growing up and why I decided to start blogging.
