I always appreciate a welcoming entry, don’t you? I think it sets the stage and builds anticipation for what’s inside. This year I hung a hand-decorated garland above my front door and placed mini-Christmas trees on either side of it. Decorating the garland was super easy! A hot glue gun works wonders, I’m telling you.
Here is my foyer, which doubles as a ballet studio!
(I also hand-decorated the garland you see on the bannister behind my dancer using a mix of modern and vintage ornaments from my grandmother).
Here is our dining room fireplace. The children especially love the cupboard-door Advent calendar. I fill it with special treats they open each new day.
I even decorate my china cabinet, Herbert. (Yes, my china cabinet has a name. Doesn’t everyone name their china cabinets?) Sometimes we call him Herby for short.
On our main dining table, I’ve set up our family Advent wreath. This year the older kids are able to light the candles themselves. They LOVE taking turns lighting the candles before each meal. The twins take turns blowing them out. More often than not, my table is spattered with wax and soot from all the exaggerated blowing out of candles!
Through out the house, I’ve set up little shelf displays. Here are a couple of them:

And here is our Christmas Tree! I usually build on a theme over a couple of years, collecting new decorations each year. We call this our Red & Gold Tree. I’ve used it for two years now. Next year, I’ll probably switch themes.

Of course, I also hang stockings over the fireplace–with a family as large as ours, it practically takes up the entire mantel!
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed this little peek inside my home.
Now, won’t you sign my guest book by leaving a little Christmas/holiday greeting in the comment box?
Don’t forget to tell us where you’re from, the children love seeing all the different places!
With love from my heart to yours, EE & Family
