Ave Verum Corpus: a eucharistic hymn for your Sunday morning

A beautiful piece of music for your Sunday morning. Here is the English translation of the Latin:

Hail, true Body, born
of the Virgin Mary,
who truly suffered, sacrificed
on the cross for mankind,
whose pierced side overflowed
with water and blood:
Be for us a foretaste
in the trial of death.
Oh dear Jesus, Oh merciful Jesus, Oh Jesus, Son of Mary
have mercy on me.

Thank you for posting this, Elizabeth. I go to the Traditional Latin Mass on the East Coast, but attended it also in Southern California and could make some recommendations if you’re interested. Ave Maria!

So beatiful Elizabeth. A wonderful hymn to meditate to, a great way to spend some Sabbath time.

I have spent many hours listening to Ave Verum Corpus over and over and over. I want to have the words tattooed on me somewhere, but I don’t want to freak my kids out with MORE tattoos.

I do adore this song… and the True Body.
