THE SATURDAY EVENING BLOG POST, vol. 3, issue 10

WELCOME TO THE SATURDAY EVENING BLOG POST!

This is where bloggers gather on the first Saturday of each month to share their latest and greatest blog posts! This month we’re sharing our favorite post from OCTOBER 2011!

I’ll start by sharing my favorite post: Mothering Without Fear. I chose this post because I believe in the Jesus who shows up without condemnation or judgment–even after our failures–and simply makes us breakfast. Coming to understand the unconditional love of God has changed everything for me, including how I mother my children.

Now, it’s your turn! Here’s how to participate:

  1. Pick one of YOUR posts from the last month.
  2. Insert the link to that specific post(not your home page) into the Linky form here.
  3. Spread the word. Share The Saturday Evening Blog Post on Facebook, Tweet about it, or write a new post on your blog encouraging your readers to come join the party! The more the merrier! It’s always fun to “meet” new bloggers.

The Saturday Evening Blog Post is a celebration of family-friendly art and writing. Please no links to products or giveaways. Thank you.

Thanks for the opportunity to link-up!

My favorite post this month was “Dear Mr. Preacher”.  It is an appeal for The Preacher of the Baptist Taliban to apply the same authority in  commanding his members to stop shunning their dejected family members that he does to obeying his endless, arbitrary rules.

I loved your Mothering Without Fear post and would have loved even more to have been there at MOPS to hear you tell it in person.  But your Relevant post was pretty amazing.  That might have been my very favorite EE post this month :)

I had a couple of posts last month that I enjoyed, but my favorite was when I was going to rant about Mark Driscoll’s “God hates some of you” sermon and ended up finding peace at an unexpected place.

Thanks so much for the opportunity to link up, friend!

  • Kimberly Van Brunt

Oof, I didn’t know how the magical linky worked. Can you change #17′s name to “To breathe for her” ? I thought it was asking for my name, not the name of my post.

Thanks for the chance to link!

hey elizabeth! girl, it’s been, like, forEVER since i’ve linked so i was excited for alise’s reminder-tweet! two posts i wrote surrounding the anniversary of my dad dying were most-viewed, but a close runner-up and the post that was the most important for me to write was the one about discovering my worth as a woman through trial and error. it was in response to tamara’s call, which is now turning into a book. whoot! xo

  • Rushia Wallace

Well how fun is this? Thanks for the opportunity to do this EE. And I look forward to checking out the other blog links. (I think I messed mine up though. oops.)

My wife was sick much of October and I’ve been swamped at work, so I didn’t post anything besides my weekly collections of links, videos, and brief thoughts. The videos at the bottom of the one I linked I think are particularly funny, at least to me. (EE, I think you might get a chuckle from The Walken Dead.)

If you find the blurb on Rob Bell’s sermon interesting, in the subsequent week’s update, I posted a TED talk by Richard Wilkinson that goes over the findings Rob references in more detail.

I have such a tough time picking a favorite post, though since I cut back on how often I post, it has gotten a bit easier. I highlighted two this month, but I only linked one in your linky. You’ll have to go to today’s post to find the other. :)

Such a fun idea! Thanks for challenging me to look back over October =)

  • KatR

I added my latest “The Divine Feminine, Or Mary Is My Homegirl”, which is my latest post and was also written without cursing in it, so it can safely be among the list of “family friendly” blogs. :)

Mine’s about a cockroach. Sorry. Kind of a dry month for blogging. Excited to link up for the first time!

My best post from last month was my first guest post on the Apraxia-KIDS blog. I wrote it a few days before my family participated in an apraxia walk, and I got a lot of “thank you’s” from the parents there. Great online responses too. Was glad to know that my writing made a difference.
