The Saturday Evening Blog Post, vol. 4, issue 3

Welcome to THE SATURDAY EVENING BLOG POST!

This is where bloggers gather on the first Saturday of each  month to
share their favorite post from the previous month.
This month we’re featuring posts from February 2012!

I’ll begin by sharing my favorite post from last month: Happiness, The Pursuit. I chose this post because it reflects my driving focus this year. It’s also rather ironic because no sooner do I choose happiness then we have to sell our house. But this is good! It’s reminding me that true happiness is not found in material wealth but in the depth of my personal relationships.

Now, it’s your turn! Here’s how to participate:

  1. Pick one of YOUR posts from the last month.
  2. Insert the link to that specific post(not your home page) into the Linky form here.
  3. Spread the word. Share The Saturday Evening Blog Post on Facebook, tweet about it, or write a new post on your blog encouraging your readers to come join the party! The more the merrier! It’s always fun to “meet” new bloggers.

The Saturday Evening Blog Post is a celebration of family-friendly art and writing. Please no links to products or giveaways. Thank you.

Thinking of you as you gear up for many changes in the coming months. Thanks for hosting!

  • http://www.thisistheroutine.com/ The Routine

Found your blog recently and have really enjoyed the reads. Thanks for hosting!

  • http://www.ericpazdziora.com/writing/the-myth-of-the-weaker-vessel/ Eric

I only wrote one real blog post last month, but it made up for it by becoming alarmingly popular.

  • aprille

Hi I posted twice – not sure if there is a way to remove the first one. I didn’t realize that “name” meant title! Sorry!

  • http://aloveaffairwithwords.blogspot.com Jenn

Thanks for hosting, EE! I didn’t write much in February … but I chose the post I wrote for Lent, mostly because it is personal.

  • http://annewithane.net/ Anne

Oh, praying for you and your house.  Wish I could bring you some tissues and some chocolate!

  • http://tumbledweeds.wordpress.com/ Campbell @ tumbledweeds

Yay!  I look forward to this every month!

  • Incongruous Circumspection

That’s because you’re THAT AWESOME, Eric.

  • Emily

First time linking up, but I’ve been following your blog for about nine months now and love it.  I wrote about some fears that recently came into the spotlight after my son came home from school talking about hell.  Emily #18 :)

  • David Bates

I posted the closing song for “Daughters Of The King”, an event held last Saturday. 36 guys put on a gala evening for 100 ladies and closed the night by offering a sacrifice on the altar of dignity…

  • Jystpn

My first time linking up (I’m #12).  I’m a faithful reader, and I’ve recently had my own daily blogging challenge going on.

  • http://www.motherhoodshewrote.com/ Sarah

Thanks EE! Wrote about a transformational moment with my 5 1/2 year old son who has Autism.

  • http://www.kimvanbrunt.com/honestly-adoption-the-blog/ Kim Van Brunt

Thanks for hosting as always, EE. It’s a blessing to be a fellow truth-teller along with you, being vulnerable for all the world to see. How else will we be healed?

  • Michelle

But today is Friday, EE!? haha.

Love reading your blog… sometimes, I disagree with you entirely. sometimes, I think you have the most brilliant things to say. and sometimes, I just plain old cry over it!
Thanks for putting yourself out there for all of us. :)

It’s been awhile since I participated, because I wasn’t doing much posting to my blog.  In February I started getting back into blogging, so I have some material from which to choose.  I chose one related to Lenten spirituality, although it really applies to everyday life, regardless of the season.  Thank you for hosting this, Elizabeth.  I love reading what others submitted, too!

  • http://kelly-justathought.blogspot.com/ Kelly Dyck

I wrote “Valentine’s Day ~ A Day to Love” as a testimony to my determination not to spend Valentine’s Day in a chocolate/wine/chick flick fueled spiral of despair.  Even more importantly, I wanted to celebrate God’s passionate, enduring, intimate, all-encompassing love for me by pouring it out onto the world around me.  And yes, it was a wonderful day!

  • http://www.emuf.blogspot.com/ Emily a la Blog

My post was hard to publish because of all the personal stuff (felt really vulnerable to set my words free on the Internet) but the feedback I’ve received has meant a lot to me.

    Thank you, EE

    Okay…I think I did that right ;-)

Thanks for hosting this Elizabeth!  Can’t wait for the weekend so I can check out all these great blogs!

  • http://passingpinwheels.com/ Mrs. C

Thanks for the opportunity to meet some new people! I love seeing all the different blogs and bloggers.

  • Courtney @ Livingabonafidelife

love this linkup, great way to find awesome blogs :)

  • Michelle @ Liturgical Time

    Thanks for the linkup!

  • http://www.fatherhoodetc.com/ David Ozab

I wrote “Mother, Bride, and Daughter” in response to Rachel Held Evans’ call for responses to John Piper’s claim about “Masculine Christianity.” It was very well received, and is by far my most popular post to date.

  • Amy

I’ve lurked here and love the way you write. This is a fun event!

  • http://faithandfood.morizot.net/ Scott Morizot

I thought about linking my posts on the contraceptive “debate” but decided I would rather post the link to the ultimate post in my Mary series instead.

  • http://krwordgazer.blogspot.com/ KR Wordgazer

Can  you please delete #45?  I did the link thing wrong, so I redid it for #46.  It’s mostly about the significance of Jesus’ unspoken message to the twelve Apostles when He made women the first witnesses to His resurrection.

  • Katy-Anne

Mine is about how my relationship with God is being rebuilt…by God.

  • Anna@mommaonamission

I linked up! Thanks! I enjoy your perspective. :)

  • http://www.joyinthisjourney.com Joy in this Journey

I wrote about the strain of moving in a different direction in my faith than my husband is. We’re by no means experts on it, but I discovered from the feedback that we’re not alone, and that is encouraging.

P.S. I love the post title “I’m nobody’s hero. I’m just tired, cranky, and want chocolate.” That’s exactly where I am today, just add in “pissed” to the mix too. Praying for a quick sale of your house and a smooth transition.

  • http://quietanthem.blogspot.com/ Renee Ronika Klug

Thanks, Elizabeth. I’m praying for your transition. We have one coming up, too.

This post is about my youngest daughter (1), Eva, as the launch of my February blog series: “Of Love and Other Astonishments.”

best of luck as you sell your house… mine is about my heart feeling heavy for the mamas who lose their babies, but that we stand with them.

  • http://www.life-after-church.com Chrystal Westbrook Southwell

I wrote about how difficult it is to transition from single female professional to stay-at-home wife, particularly when you weren’t expecting it.
Praying for you and your family as you sell your house!

  • Tifanni

Thanks again EE. I have posted a link to my new blog chronically our family’s journey as we move to Haiti to work at an orphanage.

  • Sandra ChristianHeretic

The Chronicles of a (Formerly Christian) Heretic published only once in February so that’s what got linked!  It is a comparison of my own healing journey to the journey of the Jesus followers during the time leading up to the Jerusalem Passover and their mind-shattering experiences thereafter.

  • Susan @ christianmothering.com

Love the idea of the Saturday Evening Blog Post. Have so enjoyed poking around on other people’s. My post is about involving young children in household tasks and chores.

Oops. My actual post is #74, not #73. I pasted in the last link I copied. Sorry. If anyone can delete #73, that would be great :) I feel kinda silly. But love the idea. My post that I picked is my 1000 Gifts in 2012 post (it was the first – and only – one that I’ve posted so far) because I loved sharing what I was thankful for in the normalness of everyday life. :)

  • Cindy Foster

I shared some thoughts as reminders of how Jesus elevates the child and how that in some ways we should never grow up.

I have found most of my favorite blog reading right here.  Thanks again Elizabeth!

  • http://www.throughaglass.net Kari

I wrote about looking for one of my students when he didn’t come to practice.

  • http://ramonawritesagain.com/ Ramona

What a fun idea! I didn’t blog much in February, but I picked my groundhog day post about winter in Wisconsin. I got a little confused and put my name instead of the name of the post, though, oops! Live and learn.
