What writing a book looks like

Writer’s block

Frustration!

Almost giving up

Accepting there’s no way around the pain, only through it

Finish the scene. Then cry about it.

Scotch. On the rocks.

my liver and i have an agreement that i don’t torture it with alcohol and in exchange, it doesn’t crap out on me before i turn 40. thus, scotch is not allowed for me. but yes, i’ve made most of those faces though the “no way around the pain, only through it” and “finish and then cry” faces are reserved for the picu (which thankfully, i haven’t had to see the inside of in a year).

in your darkest moments of writing the book, remember that you putting your experiences on paper or in a blog entry is going to give someone else the courage to get through a similar situation. someone’s nicu posts gave me hope during my son’s two months in the nicu which is giving one of my online friends hope when she deals with the nicu in a few months. ditto with picu blog entries.

Sorry about the writer’s block, but at least your nails look pretty :)

Brave lady, I am so looking forward to reading your book. It will touch many others and the process will have been worth it, I truly believe. Keep on, girl.

Love this. I’m just wondering if the reverse has been true for you…scotch first followed by writer’s gush? Followed by, “Oh dear God…I need another scotch.”

Keep going. Your words have such value.

Have you read Pressfield’s The War of Art? I’m not even a writer and I found it inspirational. I raise my glass of Kentucky bourbon in your direction (not really, as it’s only 11 am here).
