New Blog Reveal!

Do you like my new blog design? I’m super happy about it. Simple. Clean. Fresh. Many thanks to Micah Murray who was willing to work for me despite my heretical opinions, my offensive appearances on Fox News and my being Catholic. Also, I like dogs and he likes cats. Clearly, he should not associate with the likes of moi. Oh, wait. I’m making that part up. I actually have no idea whether he is a pet-lover or not. Because. When I ask someone to re-design my blog I don’t CARE about their opinions on pet-ownership, beer vs. wine, infant baptism vs. “age of accountability,” Democrats v. Republicans, YOLOSwag v. SwagYOLO or whether cookie butter is better than biscoff. [Note: Cookie Butter is WAY better. But I digress].

The point is, I just want GOOD work. And I liked what Micah did with his blog. So there.

Micah did a great job for me and, after being rejected by another designer who refused to work for me because she Disagreed With My Opinions, I’m especially grateful for friends like Micah–and YOU, dear reader–who stick with me through my admittedly lame, blundering, often-fraught, sometimes whimsical, messy process. This is my process, yo. Welcome to the beautiful mess.

Are you serious? OMW. Good grief other person. This looks great. Love the header.

I had to stop with the cookie butter because I was Developing A Problem. Do you notice how cookie butter has this warming sensation when you put it in your mouth? I’m sorry, what? Oh, the BLOG! The blog is gorgeous. I love how everything pops and that picture of you is gorgeous.

    • elizabethesther

Cookie Butter is the reason I’ve gained 5 pounds in the last 2 months while finishing my book. It’s like crack for the Trader Joe’s set.

HA! You sure showed them. Props to you and Micah, because I love both of your works.

    • elizabethesther

      big thank you!

  • Aprille

I LOVE it!!!! Perfect! PS I love how minimalistic your blog is. Uncluttered. No ads. Just pure writing.

    • elizabethesther

THANK YOU! That was a big intention of mine. Content-focused. Pure writing. I’m glad you noticed!

      • Aprille

yes it’s one of the reasons I keep coming back.

if I could leave one criticism of your new design, especially in your about page – I didn’t realize your hyperlinks were hyperlinks until I accidentally clicked on one. I think you might benefit from putting them in a slightly different color or font or even making them bold or something. That way people can click through to your other posts. Otherwise, they might see the text and not realize they are there. Should be an easy fix design-wise. Just a thought, take it or leave it. :)

        • http://www.redemptionpictures.com/ Micah J. Murray

Good catch! I noticed that too when I looked today.

          • Aprille

            Ooh it’s fixed now! Awesome!

  • Lucie

I like it, and you look great. :-)

  • http://www.leighkramer.com/ Leigh Kramer

LOVE the new look! And you’re right: cookie butter is the best.

  • http://likesunshineinthehome.blogspot.com/ Sarah H

Very nice! :) As others have said, easy on the eye.

BTW I can cope with the theological differences, but the cats vs. dogs…well I would have to refuse business with someone who didn’t like cats! But wait, my own husband doesn’t like cats. Perhaps I could cope. ;)

I love your blog, helped me refocus after leaving a cultish church last year.

  • http://felicemifa.wordpress.com/ Margaret_at_FeliceMiFa

Beautiful, clean, and easy to use. Plus it has your lovely smile right up top.

  • David Ozab

Looks great, and I like how you tied the title of the blog to the title of the book. Nice touch!

  • http://thechuppies.com/ Kara @ The Chuppies

    I really like it!
Makes me want a clean-slate-simple-look-change for mine too. :)
And I have no clue what cookie butter is, but I’m pretty sure I’m better off that way.

  • Rachel McCumber

Perfect! Glad you found a good match for your web design. I find the other designers decision rather humorous.

  • Katarina

The new blog design is clean, fresh…pure, simple and content focused! Just the way it should be!

    WHO REJECTS THE TRUTH?
WHO FIRST REJECTED THE TRUTH ABOUT JESUS AND THE DOCTRINES OF GOD? THE RELIGIOUS LEADERS WERE AT THE FOREFRONT WHEN IT CAME TO REJECTING JESUS. IS IT NOT THE RELIGIOUS LEADERS OF TODAY WHO PROMOTE REJECTING THE DOCTRINES OF GOD?

JOHN 7:40-48 SOME OF THE PEOPLE THEREFORE, WHEN THEY HEARD THESE WORDS, WERE SAYING, “THIS CERTAINLY IS THE PROPHET.” 41 OTHERS WERE SAYING , “THIS IS THE CHRIST.” STILL OTHERS WERE SAYING, “SURELY THE CHRIST IS NOT GOING TO COME FROM GALILEE, IS HE?……47 THE PHARISEES THEN ANSWERED THEM, “YOU HAVE NOT ALSO BEEN LED ASTRAY, HAVE YOU? 48 NO ONE OF THE RULERS OR PHARISEES HAS BELIEVED IN HIM, HAS HE?

The religious leaders were remaining steadfast in rejecting the truth about Jesus.

John 12:42- Nevertheless many even of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing Him, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God.

Are there not many religious leaders, today, who refuse to preach the truth concerning the doctrines of God for fear of losing there position in the church? Do some contemporary church leaders covet the praises men more than approval of God?

John 9:13-22….22 His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone confessed Him to be Christ, he was to be put out of the synagogue.

Men were intimated by the Jewish rulers. There are many in the church today who will not speak the truth because they fear the church leaders. Men do not want to be ostracized or be forced to leave their life long denominational church.

    REJECTING THE TRUTH!

Matthew 4:10 Then Jesus said to him, “Go Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord God, and serve Him only!”

To pray to someone, is worship, however, church leaders tell men to pray to the Virgin Mary and to other dead saints. Leaders rejecting the truth.

Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Some preachers today say that water baptism is not essential to have sins forgiven. Leaders rejecting the truth.

Luke 8:13 Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away.

Some leaders assert that once you are a believer, you are always saved. Leaders rejecting the truth.

Acts 4:10-12…by the name of Jesus Christ…12 And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.

Religious leaders proclaim there are many and various ways, besides Jesus as Savior, that men may be saved. Leaders rejecting the truth.

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarned you, just as I forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Church leaders teach that repentance is not necessary. They say practicing a sinful lifestyle will not keep you from entering the kingdom of God. Why? Because they say we are saved by grace alone, because we are saved by faith only, and because all Christians sin. Leaders rejecting the truth. ( There is a difference between becoming saved and remaining faithful. Repentance does not stop the minute you are baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.)

Mark 1:1-9……..9 He was also saying to them, “You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to keep your traditions.

Religious leaders, today, are rejecting the truth in order to keep their traditions.

Pray, Sir, tell me who or what prompted you to write this comment? Are you actually are still around or did you post and run? Just a suggestion: this sort of post tends to drive nonbelievers away. Love one another as I have loved you.

    • elizabethesther

Oh, I’ll *definitely* follow your blog after this awesome comment! Thanks, man!

    • KatR

Steve, you need cookie butter more desperately than any other human being I have ever met.

I may not agree with all of your opinions, but I love your blog and reading your opinions and thinking about them and would not abandon your blog just because I disagreed with you in some regards! Also looking forward to your book. (Speaking as one of the people who commented on your childfree post).

    • elizabethesther

This means so much. Thank you.

  • http://hyattregency.wordpress.com/ Sarah

Lovely! Cats vs. dogs made me nervous… I distrust men who prefer cats, and I was feeling really conflicted, since I just started following Micah on Twitter.

Super relieved to see you made that up.

    Priorities!

    • http://www.redemptionpictures.com/ Micah J. Murray

      I hate cats.

Regarding the new banner: Yep, really nice. Re: Fox News…What? Offensive appearance?! What! The other chic was offensive. You did very well trying to talk about the heart of the actual topic.

Absolutely and perfectly you, EE! Love it.

  • Carmen

I love the blog redesign SO MUCH. And I CANNOT WAIT for your book!

  • Jesse Hoover

This made me laugh….shouldn’t ‘said designer’ have known you would write about this? She could have at least said, ‘Biscoff is WAY better than cookie butter, therefor no design for you!’ Love it.
