I'll begin by sharing my post from this past month. I chose Rejection, Acceptance & Depression. It seems that many of my recent posts have been very difficult for me to write. But I'm finding that it's rewarding to write honestly and authentically without worrying what others will think. There's a kind of freedom in it, wouldn't you agree?

I chose this post because it is a topic I've been thinking about quite a bit and also, I absolutely LOVED the conversation that took place in the comments. I'll begin by sharing my two favorite posts. March was a very difficult month for me. However, sometimes difficult seasons of life help clarify future choices. This is what happened when I finally realized why I'm probably a bad candidate for homeschooling.  In April, I finally admitted to myself (and you) that I'm burned out and am losing the joy of mothering. I chose these posts because I think they mark a positive change in my willingness to be honest with myself and others. From the overwhelming response, I can sense that my being real with you helped you feel safe to be real with yourself, too. And that makes me so happy because we're building a little supportive community, here. YAY!

I'll begin by sharing my favorite post: Love Makes Me Feel Like a Good Person. This was such a precious moment I shared with my son and reminded me of the healing power of God's unconditional love. What was also interesting about this post was how controversial it was. I was completely surprised by the response--and thankful for those of you who helped me clarify my thoughts in the comment box. Thank you!

I'll begin by sharing my favorite post from last month: A Conversation with Frank Schaeffer, author of "Crazy for God." I chose this post because Frank's book was so helpful to me in understanding The Religious Right and the affect it had on my own fundamentalist childhood. Chatting with Frank was an enlightening, informative and indeed, affirming experience.

I'll go first. I've decided to share "Redemption (or winning the battle against a traumatic past)." This post shares a very personal story about how growing up in an oppressive religious system still affects me today. 2009 marks the year I began writing publicly about my radical fundamentalist past. It was a huge exercise in courage. I finally felt safe and strong enough to write honestly about my experiences. A huge thanks to all of you who responded with kindness and acceptance.
