A lesson in hypocrisy

Every bush was butchered. My twins, in a game gone mischievously awry, had gone after my Agapanthus bushes and hacked off every unopened flower bud. When I discovered the crime scene a day later, there were plenty of excuses – and an accomplice. Their older brother explained they were just playing a game! They "needed" the buds as firewood for their pretend fire! Can't you see, Mama? We didn't mean to ruin your flowers!
