Rite of Sending

My husband, Matt, has been going through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and today, he begins his formal journey into the Catholic Church through the Rite of Sending.

Four years ago, at Easter Vigil 2009, I entered the Catholic Church. I have prayed for my family to join me every single day. It has seemed like an impossible dream.

Neither of our families are Catholic. We have no Catholic friends. Our backgrounds are very definitively non-Catholic. Our only living Catholic relatives are my husband's grandparents and they live on the other side of the country. It has been a long, lonely journey. I actually thought my husband would never become Catholic. I was committed to living out my life as the only Catholic in our family.

But then, last year, my twins were baptized into the Church. And finally after two years of me NOT talking about it and just letting the Holy Spirit work, my husband is joining me. At long last, we are together as one, united in faith and in love. I can't tell you how happy I am.

I would sincerely appreciate your prayers for my family as we approach this Lenten season. And please say a special prayer for my three oldest children (Jewel, James and Jude) who are still making their own spiritual journeys. Thank you so much.

Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. St. Jude 1: 24-25
